What is Strexo

Built specifically for Stremio users

If you searched for terms like stremio external player, stremio intro skip, stremio iOS player, or stremio iOS progress sync, this site covers the setup steps and feature details you need.

Features

What Strexo adds to the Stremio playback experience

Progress sync that actually matters

Strexo is built to push playback progress back into your Stremio workflow so Continue Watching stays useful instead of drifting out of sync.

Trakt and Simkl support

Connect Trakt or Simkl if you want separate scrobbling on top of Stremio syncing.

Intro skipping

Strexo supports IntroDB-based intro detection where data is available, with quick skip controls during playback.

Better subtitle handling

Subtitle delay, subtitle font and size preferences, language defaults, external subtitle loading, and clearer in-player subtitle controls.

Audio track control

Pick audio tracks, set a default language, and adjust audio delay on supported playback paths.

Episode stream browser

Browse available episode streams and switch links from inside the player instead of backing out and starting over.

Up next and autoplay

Strexo can surface the next episode near the end of playback and automatically move to the next episode if you enable it.

Picture in Picture

PiP is supported on compatible playback paths so you can keep watching while moving around iOS.

How It Works

Set it up once, then let Stremio hand playback off cleanly

01

Install Strexo

Join the iOS beta through TestFlight or install the Android TV APK directly.

02

Sign in and configure

Open Strexo, connect your Stremio account, then optionally link Trakt or Simkl and set language, subtitle, and autoplay preferences.

03

Launch from Stremio

Start playback using your normal Stremio flow and let Strexo handle the actual player experience.

04

Keep watching

Use stream switching, subtitle and audio controls, PiP, intro skip, and up next prompts without losing the Stremio context.

Trust & Security

Your credentials stay between you and Stremio

Security concerns are one of the most common questions about Strexo. Here is exactly what the app does — and does not — do with your account.

No credentials on Strexo servers

Your Stremio password is never transmitted to or stored on Strexo infrastructure. Authentication happens directly between your device and Stremio's endpoints.

Authentication handled securely

Sign-in flows go directly to the relevant service. Strexo does not sit in the middle of your login — it receives a session token after authentication completes.

All API calls made locally

All API calls are made directly from your device. There is no backend proxy — every request goes straight from your device to the relevant service.

No tracking or analytics abuse

No advertising analytics. No data sold or shared with third parties. Operational data is limited to what is necessary to keep the service running.

Independently verifiable

You can confirm this behaviour yourself by inspecting network traffic with a packet capture or proxy tool while signing in and using the app.

No server involvement

Strexo has no backend. All requests are made locally from your device directly to Stremio and any connected services. Nothing more.

Beta Notes

What to expect from the current release

Still in active development

Strexo is evolving quickly. Features and behavior can change between builds as the player matures.

Platform-specific differences

iOS and Android TV do not behave identically. Some playback and hardware behavior will vary by platform and device.

External player edge cases still exist

Some streams, subtitle formats, codecs, and add-on combinations can still expose rough edges during beta.
